The Realway
In the past few years, the rise of streetwear has infiltrated the tight-knit community of haute couture brands like Dior, Chanel, and Gucci. The garments made by these fashion houses, once so unattainable to the everyday person, are now being worn by the most fashionable of the street fashion wearers. Since the rise of the Fashion Blogger followed by the Influencer, fashion has had to open its doors to a wider audience: the thumbs behind the shares and the likes who bestow that free promotion the labels now covet in this increasingly cutthroat market. High street brands like H&M are collaborating with Moschino. The Dior Men’s Pre-Fall Collection in Tokyo was attended by every Tokyo fashionista. Rihanna’s brand Fenty elevated Puma to high fashion status. These are all great examples of the intersection of street fashion and high fashion.
For this shoot we headed to Ginza, a place known to be home to luxury brands. We came with our own interpretation of high fashion—a mix of luxury, street, and offbrand. The rules of the runway are changing and we’re here for it!
