The First Ever Wearable Tamagotchi Set for Release!
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the world’s most iconic virtual pet, toy company Bandai will be releasing their first ever wearable Tamagotchi: the Tamagotchi Smart!
Some of you millennials may fondly recall getting the 5cm tall egg with a mini LED screen that provided a window into the wonderful world of your pixelated pal. Having a Tamagotchi was literally all fun and games… Until you realised turning it off wasn’t an option and you had to take care of it. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. You were only 7 years old so you couldn’t really handle the burden and your pet inevitably died. You shut it away in your drawer so you didn’t have to face the guilt of being a “murderer”.
The Tamagotchi has come a long way since those dark times. Available in mint green, coral pink and the ultra-exclusive white, the Tamagotchi Smart has retained the signature egg shape but with a bunch of new updates like voice commands, touch screen, pedometer and clock. The watch straps make it super easy to carry around your virtual child—just like real parenting! Bandai will also be selling TamaSmart cards which allow you to buy additional features like toys, clothes and games for your pet.
If you’re ready for the responsibility of raising an adorable little squiggle, the Tamagotchi Smart can be yours for a mere ¥6,380. The pink and green colourways will be available for purchase on Tamagotchi’s official anniversary, 23 November. But! You may be able to get your hands on the exclusive white model, if you can enter the lottery between now and 2 July!
