Océane

Océane once told me that she was kicked out of a museum in Paris for resembling the artwork too much. From then on, “If I can’t go to museums, I’ll just become one” became her personal fashion motivation. Her style is the epitome of classic that has been reborn. If you take a closer look at some of her clothes and accessories, you might start to wonder if she’s stolen a painting from the Louvre—she fits right in with her brooches, hair clips, and handbags! The looks are fancy yet wearable, as she chooses to take away the impracticality of some of the vintage styles she emulates. If you want to get the look, Océane sells her own handmade items on her online shop which we have linked below!

Describe your style in 3 words, and explain why you chose these words!

It’s super difficult haha! But in a nutshell I would say Rococo, kitsch, and “girly”? I have a lot of different influences but these 3 words define the most the spirit of all my outfits, I think! You can often find Rococo in the lace and frills, the kitsch with a little touch of humour in the accessories, the girly with the pink and all its cliché haha—but I like to play with it.

What do you want to express through your style?

First of all, I want to be able to express myself, who I am, and express my tastes without having the need to talk! I’ve always been pretty shy and reserved. Clothes have been a way for me to get out of my bubble and show the world who I really am, while developing my creativity. That’s why I love fashion and clothes so much!”

What do you do when you want to get yourself out of a creative rut?

I go on Instagram? Hahaha social networks are so inspiring! I must have more than 1000 pictures of inspiration in my phone and even more on my computer.

Traditional or modern?

Both! I think it is precisely the combination of both that allows creation and innovation.

What are your goals and your future dreams?

Ideally, I would love to create my own brand of clothing and accessories. I already have a small online shop, BelleLuretteShop on Etsy, but I’m working on it to take it even further to reflect my own personality better. It’s really my ultimate goal haha ♡

If you were a work of art, which would you be?

Arghh it’s a difficult choice haha, there are so many that I love! But I think that “The Swing” by Fragonard would be the best match for me. I love the decor, the dress that twirls in the wind, and the touch of lightness!

You have just made a trip to Japan. What shops would you recommend to someone who would like to imitate your style?

There were so many shops, that I did not know where to look! On my last day, I went to Shimokitazawa. I was impressed by the number of super cute second-hand stores, but unfortunately I did not remember their names. However, where I bought the most is at Kinji Clothing—you can find articles at reasonable prices! Also I regret not having had time to go there, but Curios Tokyo seems like a gold mine!

Any last words

Grandma’s curtains are life ♡
