LOH is Having a Pop-up at The Steam Room!
Huzzah! The end of the UK COVID-19 lockdown is nigh! In a few weeks, we will finally be able to return to normality. The design world has been busy during the lockdown and there are a ton of art events popping up all over the capital as a result. The choice is overwhelming, but do make sure to check out multidisciplinary designer and artist, Céline Loh’s pop-up at The Steam Room!
Launched in 2018, Céline Loh’s self-titled brand, LOH, straddles the line between East and West. LOH draws on a ton of themes and symbols from East Asian culture including subculture, religion and ideology. From shibari knot necklaces to intricate Black mamba harnesses inspired by famous haiku poet Seiho Awano, you are bound to find something that caters to you no matter your taste.
We had a little chat with Céline about the pieces she’s most excited for people to see. “It’s definitely the Chinatown Gate plant accessory as that’s the one I designed especially for The Steam Room. It has a lot of meaning as it’s symbolic of the Asian diaspora in the West, and makes plants look cuter”, says Céline. Another eye-catching gem is the Biophilia Vessel earrings. Fill the vial with water, pop in your favourite flower and—bam!—you have an accessory for every outfit.
LOH’s window exhibition and pop-up at The Steam Room runs from 25 June to 10 July at The Steam Room dry cleaners in Haggerston, London.
