The COMM

Hi, my name is…

Carol, but you can find me
online under “Oh Caroool”. I’m from Barcelona, Spain.

What does kawaii mean to you?

Kawaii is something I like to find in little things of my everyday life. I like to surround myself with things that make me feel happy and creative and motivate me to work on my illustrations. I’ve been in love with kawaii things and Japanese pop culture since I was little. I’ve visited Japan many times and I’ve been living there for a year. It’s the most inspiring place I’ve ever been. You can find kawaii on everything.

Tell us about your art!

I’ve been drawing since I was little. I’ve always been influenced by the anime I used to watch on TV. Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Marmalade Boy… I was a 90s kid and I noticed that a lot of things I enjoyed back then are represented in my work today.

I love to design merchandise, clothing, stationery… stuff that everybody can use in their everyday lives and feel happy with this touch of kawaii. Most of the time I also like to represent hidden emotions in order to normalize and make them more visible for everyone with a cute touch. I want my work to have a relieving effect.

Any last words?

It took me a lot of time to be honest with my works even though I’ve been drawing for so long, so don’t be afraid to express whatever you want with your work, your body, the way you dress or you express yourself… 🙂
