Get the Look: Pink

Looking to incorporate more pink into your look, but not ready to commit to a completely pink outfit? Start off with some fun accessories! While I’m always a fan of monochromatic head-to-toe pink, sometimes accessories can add that splash of pink you need to take your outfit to the next level. You could even do what I did for this shoot, and layer tons of pink accessories to incorporate the many shades and textures of all things pink. Below are my accessory tips—but don’t forget to experiment! How else are you going to find the accessories that best match your personal style?

Outerwear

For this shoot I wore a pink denim jacket from Brandy Melville. Its pastel colour nicely offsets the rest of the pink look. I love wearing this piece because it adds a nice, subtle touch of pink but its classic denim jacket silhouette makes it easy to pair with everything. You can wear a piece like this to make a streetwear look more girly, or to add a soft finishing touch to an over-the-top pink look.

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories are some of the easiest and cheapest ways to add some colour to your look. I love my sparkly pink hair clips from Kitsch, but hop into any mall in Tokyo and you’re sure to find a plethora of shops and booths offering up the cutest hair accessories. Hair accessories are also super trendy at the moment, so take your time to find the ones that suit your style best! Hair clips are the most versatile, because you can wear two on the same side or on opposite sides to give a classic look that goes with nearly every style.

Makeup

Looking for a super easy and affordable way to add a little pink to your look? Try makeup! In this look I used a multitude of pink products, including my favourite pink eye glitter from Stila. If you’re nervous about trying it out, start off with a subtle monochromatic look using a neutral-pink blush in any shade that matches your skin tone (steer clear of hot pinks if you’re trying to be subtle!). Incorporate some pink glitter eyeshadow, and a layer of holographic pink highlighter to your eyes and cheeks to give an otherworldly glow—I especially love the pink in the Alchemist Holographic palette from Kat Von D!

Shoes + Socks

These amazing, multi-coloured pink sneakers are exclusive to Atmos Japan and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to get my hands on them! They are the cutest—and most comfortable—pink shoes I could ever dream of. However, loads of brands, including Nike and Adidas, offer up super cute pink versions of their classic shoes. Looking for something more girly? Not ready to commit to a pair of pink shoes yet? Try out pink socks with sneakers or even heels!

Bags

Bags are some of my favourite accessories, and I absolutely love my pink little backpack from Juicy Couture. The pastel pink colour and rhinestone “Juicy” detailing remind me of the early 2000s, which is a fashion era that I adore. I even added a little matching pink keychain that I picked up at a temple in Kyoto to add a bit of Japanese flair to a traditionally American piece. This season beaded and shoulder bags are all the rage, but try out a pink belt bag or backpack if you’re feeling more streetwear.

Belts

In this shoot I’m wearing a pink belt from one of my all-time favourite brands that can only be found here in Japan or online, X-Girl. I love the design because it honestly makes me feel like the pink Power Ranger! It works really well for streetwear looks, but also looks amazing when paired with more girly pieces.

Remember, you don’t need to limit yourself to what’s been covered in this article, although it’s definitely a great starting place if you’re not sure. Can’t wait to see you all through rose-coloured lenses soon!
