Futuristic Nostalgia

In Western pop culture, Japan is often depicted as the land where the future of technology and fashion resides. In the 80s, Japanese cities were seen as the stage for tales of not-too-distant dystopian futures filled with sprawling fog-rich mega-cities—think Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell.
