Welcome to Issue 5 of Volume 3: Cosmic!
We’ve reached the end of Volume 3 and this year we’re shooting for the stars! As a great man once said: To infinity and beyond! Distant galaxies and multiple dimensions aren’t just for the world of science. Between the wildfires, the pandemic, and the seemingly never-ending political unrest, maybe it’s time to get out of here! And like any good fashion magazine, we’re asking all the important questions. What exists beyond the world we already know? Is there life on other planets? And most importantly, what should I wear on a trip across the stars?!
Unfortunately, we don’t have the technology to take us to distant galaxies (yet), but that doesn’t mean that we can‘t indulge in some fanciful musings while we wait. Everyone has different ideas of what a future in space would look like, but whatever your interpretation, it’s sure to be out of this world! Sparkly coordinates teamed with celestial notes make up the majority of these cosmic couture looks. But futuristic fashion isn’t always glitter and holographic materials, it’s also about exploring the unknown and pushing the boundaries of our creativity.
In Part One, EaRtH SUcKs, we’ve messed up and Earth is dying so we’re hitting the road in search of a new home.
In this part, we meet creatives who are packed and ready to zoom off into outer space at a moment’s notice. Check out our interviews with self-professed “alien freak” Lhouraii Li and cyber gyaru Dede! These two decided long ago that the humdrum styles of Earth were not for them so they gave our terrestrial gyaru styles an otherworldly update!
Part Two, titled Good Heavens!, chronicles our journey through the stars.
The galaxy is an unlimited source of inspiration and guidance. Some of us seek advice from constellations on apps, scrolling endlessly in search of an answer to our anxiety. While others take a more traditional approach to divination with tarot cards from creatives like Francois Heyraud of Aggelos. Prepare yourself though, space isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But don’t worry, we’ll give you a full breakdown of the items you’ll need for a prolonged space trek and the inevitable space paranoia.
Finally, in Part Three: The COMMverse, we have arrived at our destination.
We have created a new life on a new planet and honestly, life couldn’t be better! Our new home is free from labels, and diverse. We interview creatives like Marina Fini and Lyena Kang who are leading the way in how to build a better life. The human race is thriving again! For now…

Sadly, our journey ends here. This year has been a deep (space) exploration into all things Japanese street fashion. We, like every other publication, have been affected by COVID-19 but our team has worked so hard to keep The COMM going in these unprecedented times. We can’t say what will happen next year, but we’re planning on doing whatever it takes to keep on bringing you the best of our COMMunity. We hope you’ve enjoyed your journey with us, and we look forward to seeing you in the next volume! Thank you for flying The COMM Interstellar.
