Chami

When you think of Harajuku, you think of bright flashy colours, over-the-top accessories, and platform shoes. Well, Chami is exactly that… but not exactly. Her style is eye-catching and stands out from the crowd. It’s what you think of when you think of Harajuku and colour—but done in her own way! The current fashion trend seems to be heading in the direction of muted colours and simple silhouettes, but Chami is totally doing her own thing. Her look totally matches her personality, which is equally as outgoing and fun! She regularly attends the Harajuku Fashion Walk too, so maybe you’ll see her on your next trip to Tokyo!

How do you balance school and fashion?

I’ve never thought of it as balancing school and fashion. I do what I want to do when I want to do it!

How would you describe your style, and what inspired you to dress in that style? Also, what do you enjoy most about street fashion?

I don’t really know how my style would be categorised. I just enjoy wearing the things I want to wear. What I like about street fashion is that, in Harajuku, there are people with different styles and they are all saying nice things about each other’s looks. I enjoy unconventionally free fashion.

What is the key point of your coordinates?

I wake up in the morning and I decide based on how I feel that day. I do the same with my make-up… it’s kind of intuitive, I think.

What are your future goals and dreams?

My future dream is to become a designer. Right now, I’m in art school, studying design. It would be so great if I could work in fashion, photography, or make-up.

Apart from fashion, what are some of your hobbies?

I love photography! I’ve always been interested in cameras so I bought an SLR. I mostly take pictures of animals. I don’t post them on my instagram but do on my twitter. Please take a look when you get the chance!

Any last words?

‘Kawaii’ never ends. It’s a motto I will be living by.
